Fellowships in Energy Research

Eighteen Marie Curie fellowships for Early Stage Researchers (up to 4 years research experience) and two fellowships for Experienced Researchers (between 4 and 10 years experience) are available within the INSPIRE Research Training Network. Candidates are expected to hold an MSc degree or equivalent (Early Stage), or a PhD degree (Experienced), in the fields of Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.

The network comprises 16 Universities and industrial partners in 10 European countries. The research goals stem from the need to develop and update current methods, using state-of-the-art techniques, for energy management and environmental impact assessment due to the current market forces, the availability of new fuels and recently instituted environmental regulations. The project is composed of three closely interrelated research fields: CFD simulations, experimental assessment of biomass and fuel properties and second law life cycle analysis.

The training period for Early Stage researchers varies between 18 and 36 months. Collaboration with other members of the network, attending short courses and network seminars constitutes an important part of the training programme. Longer training periods, up to 36 months, could lead to studying for the degree of PhD at one of the partner Universities.

The duration of stay for Experienced Researchers is up to 36 months. The role of these researchers in the network is to provide support and assistance to the junior researchers in their work.

The positions offer EC Marie Curie salary and allowances. Preference will be given to applicants who are citizens or residents of the European Union and associated countries, but some positions will be available to nationals and residents of other countries.
